A grant from the Ecolab Foundation has assisted SMILES (Special Methods in Learning Equine Skills, Inc.) in securing specialized safety equipment for their Darien facility. A Philips HeartStart OnSite AED, and First Aid cabinet with supplies have both been purchased and installed as a result of EcoLab’s generous gift. The EcoLab Foundation has been a long time supporter of the work that is done at SMILES

Safety is a common value of both the Ecolab and SMILES organizations. The SMILES program, holding accreditation as a PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) International Premier Accredited Center, maintains some of the highest safety standards in the industry. The volunteers of SMILES have recently received training related to this new safety equipment and many other safety procedures at SMILES.

SMILES transcends traditional therapeutic methods by offering individuals with special needs the joy of participating in an equine assisted program which provides social, emotional, physical and personal rewards. Lives, and living skills, are improved through the classes and programs of SMILES. SMILES is accredited through PATH International as a Premier Center, assuring clients of the highest standards in the industry. SMILES is a non-profit organization holding 501c3 status, and relies upon the generosity and support of the community to continue in its mission.
