Class Volunteer Training
Please join us in becoming a class volunteer. Whether you are an enthusiast with many years of horse experience, or you come with no experience, your time with us is invaluable and appreciated.
If you are interested in becoming a SMILES class volunteer, we ask that you schedule a volunteer orientation. Volunteer Orientation consists of a facility tour, watching our brief video about the program, and observing a class while in session, which gives you a good idea of what is expected as a class volunteer and the different tasks that you may be asked to perform.
After your Volunteer Orientation is complete, we schedule you for your training session(s). The training will consist of grooming and saddling the horses, how to lead a horse in class, and how to approach our props and mounting ramps. You will also be taught how to side walk, which is walking next to the rider, assisting with balance and other class activities.
